Editor of the Marquetarian and established artist Alan Mansfield, says of Susan and her work: "Susan is an active member of the Marquetry Society who writes and publishes regularly in “The Marquetarian” journal, she is also a most welcome and frequent contributor to the Marquetry Society's website.
Although Susan is keen to make full and regular use of other artistic mediums, the principal use of wood as the main element of the artwork is without doubt the most remarkable prime characteristic of her work here. Susan offers us a completely new approach to the ancient and noble art of marquetry and has, as a consequence, brought marquetry well and truly into the twenty first century. The flowing curves and intertwining elements of the innovative designs coupled with the fundamentally decorative organic qualities of natural wood veneers adds a deep, almost primeval coupling of the human spirit to nature and art in equal measure."

Susan Bart says of her work: "Convention shouldn't prevent the pursuance of new ideas and I won´t follow any established artistic fashion.  Nature, plants or buildings are the common representative drawings that actually do influence my personal human nature: straight lines crossing curved lines just to find balance are the essential components of my work. The process of building is made step by step, line after line, finding the coherence and logical rhythm between them, and it is this way of working which is in harmony with my spirit and myself."
